Newlife Projects

Newlife provides construction, regeneration, maintenance and refurbishment services. Whether you are creating a new range of living accommodation, maintaining estates or have older homes to refurbish, we will take care of the entire process for you – ensuring that changes are made sensitively, with both the environment and community in mind.

Below are examples of some of the work we have carried out.

Highpoint Conference Centre – Renovation Project

Highpoint is a £6m state-of-the-art conference and training centre which opened in Leicester in Spring 2002, to national acclaim. Originally St. Catherine’s Chapel and Convent, Newlife carefully retained the historical features of the building and added a number of modern facilities -28 en-suite bedrooms, restaurant, glass reception area and achieved the highest disability accessibility standards possible.

Highpoint is one of Leicestershire’s most sought-after venues for a very wide client base. It is also an evolving centre of excellence for community learning, social enterprise and regeneration. This renovation project demonstrates how a 20th century building can retain its original charm and character but evolve, through careful planning and renovation work, to emerge as a versatile 21st century venue with fully integrated facilities for residential learning, meetings and conferences.

Meden Valley Making Places – Warsop Vale Regeneration Project

Bellway Homes took on the responsibility of the demolition and building of 132 new homes Newlife led on the refurbishment of 44 existing properties for rent and shared ownership. One of the key priorities of the partners was to maximise local training and employment opportunities. The project was delivered using people and resource totally from the local area.

Newlife continue to work with MVMP to develop and deliver further innovative schemes.

Rutland Schools – Refurbishment Project & Environmental Project

Newlife have worked to refurbish and update nine Rutland schools. Works have included building new frames and stand-alone classrooms to upgrading kitchen and toilet facilities and constructing sensory gardens.

Newlife are also working with Willmott Dixon and HMYOI Glen Parva to help build ‘plastic bottle’ greenhouses with these schools. The TREES Group have donated the timber for the greenhouse frames which will be made by the young offenders in Glen Parva. Willmott Dixon Construction and Newlife staff will then come together in September to erect these frames at the schools. The children have been told to collect plastic bottles which will form the walls of the greenhouses. The children themselves will finish the green houses by threading these bottles onto bamboo poles which form the panels of the greenhouses. It is estimated that 1,500 bottles will be recycled for each greenhouse which provides the perfect growing conditions for fruit and vegetables. The plastic bottle greenhouses are also more efficient than their glass equivalents as they are safer, more robust and much easier to repair. It is hoped that local garden centers to the schools can donate grow bags and seeds so the children can begin growing their own produce.
